National Pharmaceutical Association Foundation
Mission Statement
The Mission of the National Pharmaceutical Association Foundation is to support the activities of the National Pharmaceutical Association, including education programs, research projects, and innovative pharmacy practices. Furthermore, the National Pharmaceutical Association Foundation provides scholarships to minority and underserved students that are members of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association.
The Vision of the National Pharmaceutical Association Foundation is to provide leadership to the National Pharmaceutical Association, and it’s affiliated organizations to create changes to advance the profession, to aggressively seek funds in support of educational opportunities, and to practice innovations and research projects in disease states that disproportionately affect minority and disadvantaged patients.
The Goals of National Pharmaceutical Association Foundation include modeling and supporting behaviors that provoke ethics, public trust, and the image of the profession of pharmacy; partnering with other organizations and professions to provide quality healthcare to minority and underserved populations; developing and utilizing new technology to support growth strategies for the profession and practice of pharmacy; serving as role models for present and future pharmacists; and developing financial strategies for growth to support the Foundation’s mission and goals, and promoting continuous learning in the pursuit of excellence among members of the National Pharmaceutical Association and the Student National Pharmaceutical Association.
A voluntary Board of Directors oversees the management of the Foundation. The Foundation President and his staff provide the “day-to-day” services including fund management, maintenance of the database, soliciting corporations and individuals, and assisting the Chairman or other Board members with direct initiatives.
The Motto of National Pharmaceutical Association Foundation is “Building on Excellence”. The National Pharmaceutical Association Foundation is a private, non-profit organization that has been awarded a 501(c)(3) status from the federal government.
There are several ways in which individuals and corporations can give to the Foundation. Individually endowed scholarships can be created with a minimum $15,000 contribution, payable all at once, or over a 3- or 5-year payment plan. The endowed scholarship will bear the donor’s name. The second way of giving is through the H.W. “Ted” Matthews scholarship, which was formed in recognition of the Foundation board members and founders, NPhA past presidents, and NPhA life members. This scholarship is usually given to leaders of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association. The third way of giving is through individual expendable contributions for scholarships. This follows under the heading “The National Pharmaceutical Association Foundation Presidential Scholarship”. A final way of giving would be within the planned giving structure. Individuals may gift stock or life insurance proceeds to the Foundation to enhance the Foundation’s endowment.
